Do you know what the difference is between an LED TV and LCD TV?

Article by Led TV Vs Lcd TV

The LED TV swooped into the technology world as a new breed of television for us to watch. Now the only thing people needed to know was the difference in an LED TV and LCD TV. The LED TV is basically just a fancy LCD TV. The difference is the way the LCD panels are lit up. LED stands for light emitting diodes, which is what lights up the panels to display the image. It allows the picture to come out life like and with depth. Due to that difference the LED TVs will almost always have a clearer contrast than LCDs and that has always been a drawback owning an LCD TV. For picture quality the LED TV and LCD TV are much different and the LED seems to come out on top.

The crystals in an LCD TV have to actually twist to block the backlight in order to display dark areas on the screen and that makes it lose some of the picture quality. Both an LED TV and LCD TV can be found rather slim and sleek but the LED TVS are the only ones that go up to 60″. LEDs are also a bit lighter so they are great televisions for wall mounts. As you probably have noticed the LED TV has quite a bit over the LCD but that isn’t to say that the LCD does not have any perks. Most of the time the price ranges for an LED TV and LCD TV are in the LCDs favor. LCDs carry a much smaller price tag and can be found at tons of local retailers. Plus, the LED TVs will tend to use up more power than the LCDs too.

Both an LED TV and LCD TV can playback numerous video and TV formats but again the speed goes to the LED TV. Blurring tends to almost never occur while it is a common thing in an LCD TV. The good thing is that there is not much difference in color between the LED TV and LCD TV. Both of them seem to have a high quality of RGB and lighting colors and portray it very nicely onto the screen. Watching movies and TV shows in HD on either one of them will really make the colors pop out even more.

For those of you who are big gamers out there both the LED TV and LCD TV are great choices. I personally feel that there is a slight advantage to the LED because you can get the TVs larger than the LCDs but picture and gaming wise, it is pretty even for the two. The final difference between the LED TV and LCD TV is the longevity of the two. Once again the ball favors the LED here because the lighting tends to outlast the crystals in the LCDs. Your LED will last you twice as long as an LCD of the same size ever would.

Digital TV : Crystal Clear Television Experience

When the radio was first invented it became a common notion that it will be the invention of the century. But with the passage of time it was found that the availability of only audio signals were not enough for having sufficient entertainment. Then came out the solution as video transmission along with audio. The early television sets were a great news and a perfect mode of entertainment. The only problem was of the analog signals which actually reduced the clarity of the voice as well as the picture quality. So to end up all the problems the Digital TV was invented.

This technology is divided into two parts out of which the SDTV or standard definition TV came in the market first. With them the world started having the high quality sound and picture which was surely the most needed feature.

These standards were maintained for a long time but then the need of enhanced versions increased. So this is the reason that the high definition picture quality came into existence. The HDTV actually reduced the difference between the real images and the picture quality at the screen.

With this the size of the screen increased and the size of the television set decreased in thickness. Gradually the slim TVs came into existence and then the LCD screen soon took over. Presently there is a large variety of television sets available in the present market. All that you need is to make a better choice. The screen resolution may be a criteria. This depends on how wide is the room and for what purpose do you need it.

Apart from this the major criteria may be the aspect ratio or the colour depth. This depends on the need between movies and video games. For gaming obviously you will need digital TV that has a very fast response time and a great colour depth as well. So just get online and choose among the large options of these great devices and have full on entertainment.

Plasma TVs

With cable and satellite companies increasing the amount of High-Definition content they are offering to their subscribers, many people are deciding that now is a good time to think about replacing their old picture-tube televisions with a new flat-panel plasma television set.

When viewing a plasma TV, the first thing you will notice is the incredible high-resolution clarity of the picture. Available in resolutions from 720p, best for smaller TVs where the resolution is not as obvious, to 1080P, the highest resolution currently available, there is a plasma screen for nearly every budget. If you wish to take advantage of true HD programming, make sure your plasma TV is HD compatible. Some plasma television models are actually EDTVs, or “Enhanced-Definition Televisions”, which boast a higher degree of resolution and clarity than standard picture-tube sets, but do not have the resolution of a true HD compatible plasma television set.

Plasma TVs are also much lighter and thinner than traditional TVs.

Typically only a few inches thick and less than half the weight of a similarly-sized analog television, A plasma television can free-up valuable floor-space and be mounted on a wall since they lack a traditional, bulky picture-tube.

The number of colors displayed by plasma televisions approaches 17 million, more than the human eye can distinguish, and with a higher contrast ratio, blacks are deeper and darker. The image also does not blur during fast-moving sports or action scenes, due to their fast screen refresh time and lack of phosphor lag (the time it takes for the pixels in the screen to change color and brightness as an image moves across the screen).

LCD screens still suffer from motion blurring, however, as LCD technology was originally intended for reading motionless text on a computer screen.

Though both are quickly dropping in price, a plasma television is usually less expensive than an LCD television of a comparable size, particularly when comparing models with larger screen sizes.

If there are multiple television viewers in your household, plasma is the way to go. With larger screen sizes available than LCD televisions, generally 37-65 inches as opposed to LCDs offering of 17-56 inches, you can watch TV from farther away and more closely approximate the movie theater experience. Flat-screen plasma TVs also have a wider viewing angle, ranging from 160-180 degrees with no degradation in color and image clarity, making plasma TVs ideal for multiple viewers.

Imagine surfing the net, doing computer work or even playing games on your television from the comfort of your sofa. Internet connectivity is a feature supported by plasma television technology, and some newer models are even internet ready, allowing you to connect your plasma TV to your computer and use that enormous, crystal-clear screen as a monitor.

The purchase of a high-definition, flat-screen plasma television is made more attractive than ever these days with the growing amount of HD programming made available by cable and satellite companies to their subscribers. A plasma television is the crown jewel in any home theater system with its unsurpassed picture clarity and resolution, millions of colors and falling prices. Start shopping today!

Understanding Digital TVs

Trying to buy a new TV can be a difficult process. You will be confronted with a variety of TV offers, numbers, statics, specifications, and other details of TV design which can seem confusing and weird. Let’s try to make some sense of the different features and measurements which you will see associated with new TVs.

First of all, let’s look at the different technologies available. The main types of flat screen TVs are plasma and LCD (Liquid Crystal Display). There are also projectors, although these are much less common and have different factors to consider. They can be an effective way to create a very large viewing area though – they can go much larger than your typical 60″ flat screen TV. Plasma TVs generally have a better picture than an LCD TC offers, and are better for a controlled home theatre environment. However, plasmas also have very bad glare issues, and aren’t suitable for environments where the lighting can’t be controlled.

For the typical front room which has several windows, you may be better off going with an LCD TV. They don’t look bad, and don’t have the glare issues that plasmas have.

Next, let’s tackle resolution. HD starts at 720p, although most HDTVs are 1080p. Resolution is essentially a measure of the size of the picture, and not necessarily the quality. In this case, the numbers reflect the number of vertical lines of resolution – or the number of pixels up and down the screen. A well-produced 1080p movie can look great; however Blu-ray disks are currently the only 1080p media offered. Streaming High-Definition TV is only 720p. While 1080p is better, it isn’t completely necessary. The “p” after the number stands for “progressive,” and is the opposite of “i,” for “interlaced.” Progressive refreshes the entire scree each frame (usually 24 times a second), while interlaced only refreshes half of the screen each time, effectively halving your resolution.

You want to get a “p” television.

The actual picture quality is affected by a number of factors which can be hard to see. You should check out the stats offered by a TV for contrast, brightness, and colour accuracy. Ultimately, these things can be very hard to judge for yourself, and you will probably want to look at professional reviews. Professional reviewers use very precise instruments to measure these things, and have very trained eves to spot extremely subtle differences.

The absolute most important thing about a TV is that it looks good to you. Although it is nice to have a high contrast ration or accurate colour reproduction, it won’t matter that much to you if you can’t tell a difference. In addition to reading professional reviews, you should go into stores and look at the televisions, just to see which ones you like most.

Samsung Smart TV

With the world currently restructuring some manufacturers expanding, some contracting and some giving up the electronics world is a very interesting place. We reported a few days ago that on of the main makers of the back panel for many television models was completely pulling out of the market leaving a massive hole in the market needing to be filled.

Today we are pleased that we can bring dome more positive news regarding the LCD TV market. Samsung the global giant in this market has given their competitors a warning. They are planning to take 30% of the whole market in the Smart LCD TV arena.

For those of you that are not up to speed with the new developments heres a little bit of information on the new Smart products.

A Smart LCD TV is essentially a typical television set. However the back end of the unit and the way it operates is completely different to what you are used to.

This type of model can also be referred to as a connected television as the difference is they are based around a connection to the World Wide Web.

The LCD TV is a hybrid model which bases its functionality around mixing television, computer and set top box in one model. The functions of the models are that they are based around a more interactive user than the old type sets. When we say interactive we mean an on demand user who will stream programmes from sites like BBCi and 4OD instead of setting their watches and waiting for a programme to start.

The statement from Samsung is huge and sends a warning shot to the current leader (Sony Google) and it seems that are looking to put this technology in the majority of their new models. It is also clear that the technology giant feels that this is where the viewing future lies and that as the world pushes more towards a flexible viewing trend they want to be right at the forefront.

Samsung has also shown its intent to push for the high end of the market which normally has an LED backlit panel. The manufacturer has plans to release a host of new models to the market in 2011 and hopes this will cement a position of dominance in the LCD TV world.

Samsung has also indicated that they will not be pulling back from their 3D offering and they have ambitious plans to release 12 new high end large screen models in 2011. We commented the other day that the 3D market will become very interesting this year as manufacturers start to promote a more price sensitive passive 3D model where you do not need high tech glasses costing over £100 per pair.

Digital TV and laptops

Unlike in the past, free satellite television is available for anybody with a computer (such as a Dell Inspiron) and broadband connection. When these two items are combined with the right software program, it is easy to make”cheap televisions”. There are over two thousand different channels in which to choose from, many of these being free feeds from countries around the globe. Immigrants can find programs from their native land with just a high speed internet connection and a laptop. There are no hidden or monthly fees that often are sprung upon customers from other companies who offer this service.
Once a program is purchased to find these channels, this is the only cost that consumers have to bear. There is no more equipment or hardware needed to be purchased ever. The most important thing is to have the right Internet setup. Once the hardware is installed, the only thing left to do is to download the matching software.

After both systems are synced up, there are between two thousand and three thousand different channels to choose from at last count. Viewers have their choice of programming from around the world, including new, sports, music and even animated cartoons. This can be great news for parents as well if they want to save some money on a new set for another room, instead turning old computers into cheap televisions.
For laptop users in particular, this is especially great news since this system can be accessed from almost anywhere there is a good Internet connection, providing access to those favorite TV programs even away from home. This can also be put to good use when there is nothing to do in a remote locale because as long as the Internet can be connected, there will be television. It can also be a good way to parents to settle restless children.
One more great feature about getting free satellite television on the Dell Inspiron is the favorite’s list. This allows the favorite channels of users to be compiles into a list so users don’t have to waste time trying to find them again. Once the favorites menu is brought up, the channel can then be selected from the offerings. There is nothing illegal about this type of software program because these channels are what is called “free to air”. Some users will be able to connect their laptop or desktop pcs to the big screen, meaning they can watch them in comfort from across the room.
There are many advantages to this kind of system and users can get a lot of enjoyment from this type of set up. Since most people already own laptops or desktop pcs, and a great majority already has a broadband connection as well, the small outlay for this type of software really isn’t a large investment when compared to the entertainment value that is gained.

Whether you’re looking for cheap televisions, or a dell inspiron or if you just want you want to know about the latest desktop pcs; let Paul be your guide!
